Indonesia has become Singapore's latest source of chicken, and more than 20 countries have been approved to supply chickens.
Singapore officially approved Indonesia to export chilled, frozen, and heated chicken to the region. The three Indonesian chicken suppliers, which were the first to obtain the certification of the Singapore Food Authority, are expected to supply chicken locally in the next few weeks.
The Singapore food agency issued a notice to local meat traders on June 30, announcing that Indonesia is the latest source of chicken in Singapore. Indonesian suppliers who intend to export chilled, frozen and heated chicken to local markets must apply to the Food Administration for approval individually. At present, the three certified Indonesian suppliers can only export frozen chicken and heated chicken products to the local market.
