Wine imports in August increased by 11.6%, France returned to the top of the month, while Australia declined month-on-month

The General Administration of Customs recently announced the wine import data for August 2024. The import volume was about 23.59 million liters, up 2.44% year-on-year; the import value was about US$129 million (about RMB 910 million), up 11.6% year-on-year. From January to August, the wine import volume was about 189 million liters, up 7.88% year-on-year, and the import value was about US$1.037 billion (about RMB 7.312 billion), up 26.42% year-on-year. The import data in August can reflect the market situation of wine during the Mid-Autumn Festival, and WBO will provide a detailed analysis.

In terms of country, among the TOP 10 import sources in August, the volume and value of bottled wine imports from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa both increased, while other countries experienced declines to varying degrees, with Chile and Spain suffering the largest drops. Against a relatively high comparison base, the import volume from the top source France was around 10%, lower than the decline in most countries, and relatively stable.
